Turn your voice into text on Mac

Write an email or capture an idea without leaving the app you are using. Hold a shortcut to record; release it to transcribe and insert the text

Get started

  1. Install and allow the right permissions

Open the Mac download and drag Dictámelo into Applications. Launch it, complete setup and allow Microphone and Accessibility so it can record your voice and insert text

  2. Place your cursor and hold the shortcut

Open a document, email or chat and click where the text should appear. Hold Option + Shift + Space, the default shortcut, or the one you chose in Settings

  3. Speak, release and review

Say your message, release the shortcut and wait for the transcription. Review the inserted text. Add recurring names or terms to custom vocabulary, and enable AI cleanup only if you want it

Any questions?

Which Macs can use the current installer?

The Mac download is for Apple Silicon, including M1 and later, with macOS 12 or newer. An Intel Mac installer is not currently provided

Is the transcription processed on my Mac?

The current public release sends audio to a cloud transcription provider and requires internet. Your dictation history stays on your computer; this is not a promise of fully offline processing
